Halloween fun and surprises at Ocean Park Hong Kong

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — All is set for Ocean Park Hong Kong's annual Halloween Fest.

In a launch held on Thursday, some characters from this year's annual celebration flew all the way from Hong Kong to showcase this year's attractions that could be enjoyed by people of all ages.

First off is "H14" presented by Modern Education, an attraction where guests should make an online reservation to be accommodated. Guests are requested to answer an online questionnaire to find out their deepest fears.

This is necessary since the room will be customized according to their fears. It may be too spooky for younger visitors, so this attraction is only for 16 years old and above.

The park also has two upcoming attractions, the Rigor Mortis LIVE and Phantom Studios.

In Rigor Mortis LIVE, the guests will get to experience the dilapidated public scenes of the movie “Rigor Mortis,” which is one of Hong Kong's award-winning movies.

Phantom Studios, meanwhile, is where the venue transforms into two different creepy scenes at daytime and nighttime. Guests also get to see performances of Scaremonies presented by Blue Girl Beer.

Kids may enjoy Halloween in Asia's first-ever Doraemon-themed attraction. Doraemon and his friends will be seen in their adorable Halloween costumes.

They could also visit the Doraemon House of Gadgets to see the Time Machine and Anywhere Door featured on the popular animation series.

Tom Mehrmann, chief executive of Ocean Park Hong Kong.

“We are delighted to introduce our Halloween attractions to Filipino travelers, especially to those already making plans to visit the vibrant city of Hong Kong in October,” Tom Mehrmann, chief executive of Ocean Park Hong Kong, said.

“We hope to give our Filipino friends a memorable theme park experience through our stellar Halloween attractions,” he added.

Get to enjoy these Halloween attractions from September 14 to October 31. Although due to corporate events reserved ahead of time, the remaining slots for the public are from October 2 to 3.

Aside from Halloween attractions, Ocean Park also launched new attractions aiming to raise animal-conservation awareness.

Some of them are Shark Mystique that showcase different shark species. Another is Polar Adventures, Asia's first venue where guests can immerse with Antarctic animals and take the family coaster ride.

Inspired after first Asia's first-ever recipient of the Applause Award, the fresh attractions will give "more than just an enjoyable time, but to also serve as an educational platform to convey conservation messages," Mehrmann said.

Guests will also enjoy Thrill Mountain (a floorless roller coaster), The Rainforest (a water ride and walkthrough of a Southeast Asia rainforest) and the Grand Aquarium, which boasts a collection of 5,000 fish.
