MANILA, Philippines - You already know that in terms of comfort and convenience in the Bay Area, Microtel Mall of Asia offers the best value. The hotel, which is part of the ever-reliable Microtel Inns & Suites By Wyndham chain of world-class limited serviced hotel accommodations, boasts of essential travelers’ needs: classy and affordable rooms, top-of-the-line facilities, and efficient and friendly services.
These days, Microtel Mall of Asia is drawing in diners and raves for its food and beverage outlet Millie’s Restaurant. Located at the ground floor, Millie’s is named after matriarch Millie del Rosario, a seasoned traveler with a passion for places and platefuls.
Through her travels, near and far, Millie sampled and served the kinds of dishes she had come to love. Nowadays, Executive Chef Gino Santayana oversees the kitchen and the cuisine, ensuring that the dishes they serve are the kinds that would merit the approval of Del Rosario.
Millie’s Restaurant serves an appetizing mix of international and local cuisine. Santayana says, “A lot of people still crave for local cuisine. That is why we do classic Filipino dishes the way they are known.”
“We do not fusion cuisine around here. Fusion is confusion,” he adds.
Microtel Mall of Asia general manager Dean Cid says, “We try to feature food items that Millie enjoyed in her visits.”
Santayana shares that Millie’s already has its share of best-selling items on the menu: pasta such as Seafood Marinara and Bolognese, and local fare like kare-kare and bistek Tagalog.
“Our meats are US or wagyu beef,” the chef says. “Our bistek Tagalog uses US beef while our caldereta is made up of wagyu beef from Bukidnon. Even with our other ingredients, we insist on freshness.”
Cid avers that Millie’s has been enjoying tremendous success that they are not discounting the possibility of a stand-alone restaurant in the future.
“A Millie’s Restaurant away from our hotel is not impossible,” he remarks. “Right now, what we are doing is providing our customers with meals that are both satisfying to the palate and to the pocket.”
Portioning at Millie’s is something they are proud of. Their baby back ribs, for example, are good for two persons. “It’s a half-slab for its price,” Cid exclaims. “Even if you compare our servings with other restaurants, our price is still lower and our servings more generous.”
“At the end of the day, we at Microtel want to serve our guests good food and a good dining experience at Millie’s,” he concludes. From the growing number of loyal patrons and new diners, it is apparent that Millie’s is making good its promise.
