Versailles: A destination down south

MANILA, Philippines - There is a rather new destination down south that those in the know have been talking about. This is Versailles across Ayala Alabang Village, the Mediterranean inspired high-end estate with its fully landscaped grand entrance, lighted colonnade, magnificent dancing fountain, and exceptional ambience.

The entrance, obviously, is just the beginning. In the near future, Versailles will practically resemble its namesake in France: a travel destination with all the creature comforts designed for its visitors.

Versailles is owned and developed by State Properties Corp. with Washington SyCip as chairman and Allen Roxas as president who promises a virtual traveler’s paradise in the days to come.

“Our clubhouse, Versailles Palace, is our main attraction. With the touch of European sophistication and elegance, Versailles Palace is designed as an unparalleled events venue. Overlooking from the clubhouse are the swimming pool complex and an outdoor Jacuzzi, which are very similar to what other five-star hotels are offering,” Roxas says.

“Our grand ballroom and three function rooms attract everyone from event organizers to business people. We can accommodate from a small group of 10 to a group with 2,500 guests for all types of occasions and events — from weddings, birthdays to corporate events like seminars, conferences, and team building,” he adds.

He also says, “A lot of these people, whether they are attending weddings, the couples themselves, or conference participants prefer to stay here for a longer period of time.”

This particular need paved the way to the possibility of building accommodations within the flood-free, Mediterranean-inspired property, the better to serve its clients and to provide them with an opportunity to enjoy Versailles’ amenities.

Aside from these amenities, Versailles features a team-building area and a wellness and fitness center with gym — complete with equipment and spa equipped with sauna and steam bath for men and women. The pool is an interconnected water expanse featuring a deep pool, a dipping pool, a lap pool, a wading pool, and a kiddie pool. It also has a natural rock water slide for more fun, a sunbathing spot, and for the sporty kind, basketball and tennis courts.

Roxas says Versailles fulfills a particular dream. “Years ago, I visited Versailles in France. I thought its beauty was so unique that I wanted to replicate it in the Philippines. Now, it’s a reality.”

Roxas is proud that big international events have made Versailles the venue of choice. Truth is, the Miss Earth International pageant has been staged twice (2012 and 2013) at Versailles.

Aside from the accommodations, Roxas also reveals that 30 to 50 restaurants and a shopping mall are expected to open within the 75-hectare Versailles complex.

Versailles is a mere 15-minute drive via the Skyway to the Makati Central Business District and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
