LPU makes history with first PATA student chapter
MANILA, Philippines - Students of the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU)-Manila campus wrote another page in history when they established the first-ever student chapter in the country for the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), the biggest travel organization in the world.
Although the student chapter will be operating under the umbrella of PATA-Philippines Chapter, it will have its own activities and projects, distinct from those of the mother chapter.
These students are enrolled in the various programs of the university’s College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM).
LPU-Manila’s CITHM is the biggest Tourism and Hospitality Management school in the country, with about 9,000 students enrolled every semester, and the LPU system is accredited as an International Center for Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE), the only one in the country with such distinction, as declared by the Australia-based accrediting agency.
At the recent First Business Assembly of the PATA-Philippines Chapter, the Executive Committee members of the student chapter were presented.
Bob Zozobrado, senior officer-in-charge of CITHM and head of the Education Committee of the PATA-Philippines Chapter, stands as the adviser for the student chapter.
The student chapter’s Executive Committee is composed of: Jopo Gian Delloro, chairman; Maria Angela Solidum, secretary; Kim Laurente, treasurer; Axel Olleres, public officer, Charles Patrick Estupin, research officer; Alyssa Cristel Atienza, education officer; and Argemm Alvarez, workshop officer.
