MANILA, Philippines - Tourism students of the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila campus were proclaimed overall champions for the second straight year by the Union of Filipino Tourism Educators at the recent UFTE Cup 2014, participated in by 32 schools from all over the country. The LPU-Manila students won a total of three gold medals and two silver medals.
Antonio Adriano and Camille Hidalgo won the gold for Tour Guiding-Domestic; Angel Mary Nette Nunez, John Paul Delamide, Jerome Dato, Laurence Estorninos, Dave Masana, Ranniel Saguid, Khatlyn Guia, Melissa Garcia, Angelica Tulay and Charlaine Pescueso won the gold for Cultural Dance Presentation; while Michelle Alegre, Camille Hidalgo and Aaron Raymundo won the gold for the three-man Poster and Slogan-Making Contest.
Lorraine Mhaey Padilla won the silver for the Tourism Quiz Bee; while Vanessa Jenni Castillo and Kimberly Tonel won the silver for the two-man Poster and Slogan-Making Contest.
In another recent competition for tourism students, the UP Domestikwhiz 2014, which focused on heritage tourism and disaster preparedness, Abegail Amil, Charlene Martonito and Reah Rabaya, won the bronze.
The students were coached by LPU-Manila Tourism professors Enrico Cruzada and Sally Limgenco, assisted by Carl Francis Castro.

LPU is the only internationally accredited Tourism and Hospitality Management school in the country, having earned its accreditation from the THE-ICE (International Center for Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education), and LPU-Manila’s College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management is the biggest in the country, with an average population of close to 9,000 students per semester.
