Sofitel executives win in Mabuhay Awards
MANILA, Philippines - Sofitel Philippine Plaza’s ambassadors emerged triumphant at the recent Mabuhay Awards, which recognizes outstanding Filipino hoteliers.
Sofitel Philippine Plaza’s director for conference and events Cynthia Esteban was proclaimed winner in the managerial category, and Spiral assistant manager Jose Jessie Adalia won in the supervisory category.
Under Esteban’s leadership, the conference and events team has consistently exceeded its revenue targets over the last five years, with a significant increase in social functions for the hotel.
One of Esteban’s major contributions to the hotel is that she developed a comprehensive banquet package to include other revenue-generating areas in the hotel.
Adalia, who started as a waiter 26 years ago, was cited for his leadership during the challenge that Spiral faced when it got flooded. In 2012, the hotel awarded him as Employee of the Year.
The Mabuhay Awards is founded and organized by the Association of Human Resource Managers in the Hospitality Industry.
Out of 46 candidates, the Mabuhay Awards recognized only the best hospitality professionals in four categories: managerial, supervisory, front of the house, and heart of the house.
