Discover Gangnam at Seven Corners
MANILA, Philippines - Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria is your insider’s food guide to Korea by letting you in the fascinating dining culture of Gangnam at Seven Corners until this Sunday.
In partnership with Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas, InterContinental Seoul COEX, Korean Cultural Center and Korea Agro Fisheries and Food Trade Corp., four award-winning Korean guest chefs and a mixologist — Kim Hyung-Gyun, Yoon Taekoo, Kang Jiyoung and Lee Seung Ho — are bringing their intimate culinary knowledge of Korea’s most affluent district.
Gangnam, the most popular place in Korea, is located in Seoul. It’s filled with great energy, people on the go, expensive designer stores, Korean superstars and of course, exotic food. Travelers and locals alike also make a beeline for street food stands, bars and restaurants.
At Seven Corners, an array of quintessential Korean dishes is spread throughout the seven live cooking stations. Sink your chopsticks into the iconic Haemol Japchae, a popular stir-fried noodle dish made with sweet potato, sesame oil and fresh vegetables.
Then have a taste of the traditional Ggalbi Jjim, a braised short rib stew with mouthwatering sauce typically served during holidays and special occasions.
Definitely a must-try is the Korean Barbecue, thinly sliced meat with smoky sweet flavor when broiled or cooked on the grill. It is usually eaten with lettuce wraps and spicy red pepper paste.
The chefs also present a different twist on Kimchi called Geotjeori, a cabbage salad similar to Korea’s national dish but prepared without the process of fermentation.
For a taste of street food, sample Pajeon pancake, a delicacy made from green onion with clams, oysters and mussels. There will also be all sorts of assorted rice cakes for that perfect sweet ending.
Aside from food, beverage is also an integral part of the Korean way of life. Complementing your meal is a special drink list, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, from Soju to Maesil Ade, a traditional beverage made from plum.
