20 HS, college teen crews slug it out in Crissa Digital Dance Synergy finals

MANILA, Philippines - The best high school and college teen dance crews converged at the Dolphy Theater in ABS-CBN last Nov. 10 for the much-awaited semifinals of this year’s Crissa Digital Dance Synergy — the most prestigious all-female interschool dance competition in the country.

The pace was furious, the atmosphere, intense. And when the smoke settled, 10 high school and 10 college crews remained for the right to slug it out in the main event later today in what promises to be a must-see grand finals.

This year’s high school finalists are the following: Colegio de San Agustin (CSA Dance Troupe), Saint Pedro Poveda College (Poveda Enciende), Colegio de Sta.Rosa-Makati (Phat Gurlz Crew), Dominican College San Juan (Dominican College Dance Troupe), School of Saint Anthony (DanSSA), Miriam College High School (Sayawatha Dance Troupe), Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino High School (Break D’ Trap Crew), School of the Holy Spirit (Aglaia), St. Paul College Pasig (Terpsichore), and St. Paul College of Bocaue (Paulinian Dance Troupe).

This year’s college finalists, on the other hand, are De La Salle University-Manila (La Salle Dance Company-Street), Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Power Impact Dancers), University of Mindanao-Davao City (Makabayan Dance Artist Ensemble), Ateneo de Davao University (F.R.E.S.H. or Freshly Recruited Enthusiastic Student Hotness), University of Perpetual Help System Laguna-Biñan campus (UPHL CAS Royalties), FEU Diliman (FEU Diliman Crew), Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna (Lyceum Spartan Dance Troupe), University of the Philippines Los Baños (Wyre Underground of UPLB), Far Eastern University (FEU Dance Company), and Adamson University (Adamson Cast).

“The talent, creativity, and intensity of these crews just keep growing by leaps and bounds, year after year. They are just incredible,” says Crissa brand manager Shereen Yao.

“If the competition tonight was this intense, just imagine what we will get to see in the grand finals. We cannot wait,” Yao excitedly adds.

Indeed, the Crissa Digital Dance Synergy, now on its eighth year, has become the grandest venue for teens to showcase their dancing talents. And with the highly coveted Crissa championship having a five-episode TV airing on Studio 23 (with a convenient 6 p.m. schedule for all five episodes), millions of Filipino dance fanatics will get to catch all the action.
