MANILA, Philippines - Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila is hosting this year’s grandest celebration of the 75th Oktoberfest on Oct. 18-19 at its newly renovated Harbor Garden Tent.
Sofitel is the only French luxury hotel brand with a presence on five continents with 120 addresses in almost 40 countries, and with more than 30,000 rooms.
This will be the fourth time that Sofitel will play host to the most authentic beer festival in the country aimed at also promoting friendship between Filipinos and Germans.
“It is our pleasure to host this year’s 75th Oktoberfest at Sofitel on its fourth year. Through the years, we have seen how Oktoberfest has helped promote camaraderie among Filipinos and Germans,†says Adam Laker, Sofitel Philippine general manager.
Oktoberfest chairman Michael Scheile said the German Club Manila will also participate in the event.
Scheile said it is one of the club’s objectives to promote the Philippines as a valuable destination for investment for German businesses.
Last year, over 3,5000 guests got caught up in the Oktoberfest fever where more than 28,548 liters of beer, 950 kilograms of German sausages, 260 kilograms of pork knuckles, and 200 kilograms of sauerkraut were consumed in a span of two days.
This year’s Oktoberfest will have an even grander spread of authentic Bavarian cuisine and music by the Bavarian Sound Express from Munich, well known from previous Oktoberfests in Manila.
Scheile said they would definitely make every guest sing and dance all night long.
In the celebration of the 180th year of the Oktoberfest worldwide, the Harbor Garden Tent will be decorated in the Bavarian colors of white and blue.
Authentic Oktoberfest tables and benches will be set up to give a festive beer garden fair setting.
Sofitel Executive Chef Eric Costille will prepare the culinary spread for the event.
Traditional Oktoberfest food will be served such as roasted pork knuckles, roasted calf, laugen rolls, grilled German sausages and pastries paired with free-flowing ice-cold San Miguel Beer for all to enjoy.
Women in dirndl and gentlemen in lederhosen will add authentic Bavarian ambiance to the Oktoberfest.
One of the best live bands in Manila, the Bloomfields, will rock the house with its retro 60s music when they perform on Oct. 19.
Sofitel will also be offering special rates for Octoberfest ticket holders at P5,000 net for a superior room and breakfast for an additional P1,200 net per person.
Adding excitement to this year’s grand celebration is a raffle draw with over P4 million worth of prizes.
