MANILA, Philippines - There is a new and familiar home in Quezon City, and it is none other than Microtel by Wyndham-Acropolis. Found in the heart of the busy Libis neighborhood, Microtel by Wyndham-Acropolis is, according to its general manager Rene Suarez, a “simple and friendly urban oasis.â€
This declaration may well be what the hotel is going for: friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere. In fact, it is what one expects from a Microtel by Wyndham hotel, the kind familiar to its many loyal guests. No frills, just on-point features and services with a personal touch.
There are 84 guestrooms here, with guests having to choose between the queen double room and the larger Queen Suite. Both room types have an electronic keycard entry system, individually controlled air-conditioning units, TV with cable channels, safety deposit box, and full-sized bathroom with hot and cold bath, among others. They also have a Microtel classic: the chiropractor-approved healthy-for-the-back mattresses, so one sleeps like royalty.
Suarez adds: “Each of the nine Queen Suites has a bathtub and kitchenette. We have splittable beds for those who want a bed all their own. We also offer free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The entire hotel is non-smoking, but we do offer smoking rooms for those who want one.â€
The hotel is currently offering, on a limited run, rooms with breakfast for two for as low as P2,999. The package includes Wi-Fi access, breakfast for two, discount on laundry services, and an option for late check-out when available.
Since most of its guests are from the corporate world, Microtel by Wyndham-Acropolis is ably armed with business-friendly features. There are two conference rooms that can accommodate 50 people and one smaller function room for 20. The business center offers standard services as computers, Internet, printing, and faxing.
“Aside from the corporate and call-center guests, we get walk-ins and online bookings from neighboring subdivisions. When they have guests, they book them with us. We also get guests from the provinces, those who are airport-bound the following day. They treat this like a halfway house, so when they travel to the airport, they will already be relaxed,†Suarez says.
For guests looking for something to dine in that is just as familiar and exciting as the hotel, there is its F&B outlet Tito Chef. This is the restaurant’s second branch (the first is in BF Homes Parañaque). Having made already a reputation for great food, this wonderful restaurant is now bringing the Tito Chef experience to people in the area.
Suarez says, “They offer excellent food and great service. When we were looking for an F&B partner, we wanted to work with people dedicated to quality. We found the ideal partner in Tito Chef. Soon we will offer their popular wine buffet.â€
Microtel Acropolis provides an ideal location for guests looking for shopping malls, cinemas, banks, offices, restaurants, clubs, and churches. It is so close to Eastwood City, the St. Pio Chapel, Ortigas, and Cubao.
There are more reasons why Microtel Acropolis is a friendly addition to the neighborhood. It is the first green building-certified hotel in Quezon City. “The recognition was given to us by the local government. We incorporated a lot of environment-friendly, energy-efficient fixtures in the hotel. Our lights are all LED, and, mind you, not just ordinary LED,†Suarez says. “The hallway lights are equipped with motion detectors. These detect movements, and turn on the LED every time it is needed. These also reduce electrical consumption to 30 percent.â€
“The hotel’s water heaters are efficiently pumped. We recycle our wastewater, too. With regards to garbage, we segregate and recycle them as well. Our staff is trained constantly on environment-conscious measures.â€
“We likewise use two horse-power inverter-type air conditioners that are energy-efficient and quiet,†he says. So that guests will not be disturbed by outside noise, the hotel uses double-glazed windows to reduce street-level noise. Its hallways have cross-ventilation, with windows from both ends of the hallway allowing natural air to come in. “We reduced the use of wood in making the hotel. What we used are reconstituted veneers that look like the real thing.â€
But of course, the real thing is built on Microtel by Wyndham-Acropolis’ dedication to guest comfort and convenience, the kind offered in Microtel by Wyndham hotels around the world. With the Acropolis branch in full swing, Libis definitely has its own oasis.
