The Luxent Hotel: A touch of class in Quezon City

Dandi Galvez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At the heart of Quezon City, at the place where leisure and business converge, stands a hotel unlike any other. Like a drop of water in the urban desert it refreshes with its sleek, modern design — paying homage to contemporary art as it welcomes guests into its delightful interiors. Here, much work gets done. Here, families enjoy a vacation within the city sprawl. Aptly named, one can indulge in unique ways at the Luxent Hotel.

Classic and elegant. These are the first words that come to mind as you take in the beautiful facade of the Luxent. At 14-storeys tall, the hotel presents itself as the perfect venue for business mixed with a fair share of leisure. The Luxent satisfies guests on all fronts, right from the massive glass entrance to the high-ceiling lobby. Modern art hangs from the walls and also within the lobby, and the Lush Bar & Lobby Lounge warmly welcomes you to a cup of coffee or tea along with a snack or full meal.

Further, an inner vestibule — a circular array of pillars and light — greets guests just before they enter the elevators to their rooms. Another dining option, the Garden Café, lies right beside it offering numerous buffet meals for businesspeople on the go or casual guests. Two VIP rooms can be used for private dining or meetings.

All of this is but a sign of what you can expect with your stay at the Luxent. Melanie Siy-Pagkalinawan, general manager, says without any doubt, “Luxent is the best hotel in Quezon City — and we are visualizing ourselves to be the best in Metro Manila.”

The Luxent has four room types providing all the conveniences of a refreshing and relaxing stay — from wide-screen LCD televisions to king- and queen-size beds. In-room safety deposit boxes provide added security in a hotel that is also safe and secure.

The standard superior rooms come in at 38 or 39 square meters and can accommodate up to four people with two queen-size beds and a shower stall, while the deluxe rooms can fit three guests with one king-size bed and bathtub with shower stall. There are also two rooms available for differently abled individuals. The larger executive suites at 50 square meters offer more room to stretch and have its own living room and pantry area.

Pagkalinawan shares that the hotel has the special Luxent Suite at the 16th floor that is “a combination of four rooms put together.” The suite is decked with luxuriously designed furnishings, a master bedroom with a romantic Jacuzzi, a bathtub in the second bedroom, a mini-bar, high-end branded bath amenities and all the features you would expect from a deluxe hotel. The Luxent Suite also provides a panoramic view of the city.

The corporate crowd benefits greatly from Luxent because of its near proximity to many businesses, especially television networks, telecommunication companies, and other business destinations in the Quezon City area. Famous restaurants, cafés, malls, retail establishments, services and entertainment facilities are also a few steps away.

Pagkalinawan reveals that the hotel has captured a mostly corporate clientele, but adds that weekend vacationers also top their list of guests. “Most of our guests are corporate but on weekends we have families and children in the hotel.” The Luxent provides a number of recreational facilities for many to enjoy. “For children we have a kiddie pool,” she says. “We also have an adult pool with a transparent side wall, overlooking the street. We have a fitness center equipped with modern exercise equipment.”

Pagkalinawan also notes that a surprising number of their guests take advantage of Luxent’s beautiful interiors and design. “Most of the time we have a lot of bookings for wedding pictorials because of our luxurious ambiance and setting.” The hotel also provides free Wi-Fi access anywhere and everywhere in the building — a big plus for the corporate crowd and people who want to keep their connection to the office while still enjoying their vacation.

The Luxent has a ballroom that can accommodate up to 300 to 400 people and can be separated into four different function rooms — the Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn function rooms — hence the name, Seasons Ballroom. Two conference rooms are available for smaller meetings.

The Luxent garnered recognition from the recently concluded “Chefs on Parade 2013 — Ultimate Asian Showdown” held at the SMX Convention Center. The hotel won silver awards in the Table Setting Menu Card and Set Menu Modern Contemporary Filipino categories; and a diploma in the Japanese Boat Freestyle category.

What’s in store for guests of the Luxent in the coming months? Pagkalinawan happily says that the hotel has a lot of exciting promos in store for guests, including added entertainment services. Easter egg hunts on Easter Sunday, lowered rates during the Holy Week, and traditional promos for Mother’s, Father’s, and Grandparent’s Day. The Lush Bar & Lobby Lounge will now feature a live band on Fridays and Saturdays, with a piano player on weekdays starting April.

“We hope people will be delighted with our service and facilities,” beams Pagkalinawan. The Luxent Hotel, with its prime location and convenient access, promises to provide the high level of service you would expect from the vibrant city it resides in. It’s the kind of luxury you deserve.
