PATA CEO visits LPU-Manila

MANILA, Philippines - Martin Craigs, chief executive officer of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), recently visited Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU)-Manila to discuss the school’s involvement in the forthcoming PATA Youth Forum.

Founded in 1951, PATA has been the leading voice and authority on travel and tourism in the Asia-Pacific region.

During his visit, Craigs also shared with LPU officials the tourism and hospitality education prospects in Myanmar, expected to be the next center of tourism growth in Asia, as detailed during his recent meeting with that country’s icon of democracy, Aung San Suu Kyi.

This year’s PATA Travel Mart is slated in September at the SMX, and the PATA Youth Forum, which will be hosted by LPU-Manila, on Sept. 27, at the university’s JPL Hall of Freedom.

Craigs was accompanied by Raquel Ruth Tria, an LPU-Manila alumna who is now the project officer of the MICE and Business Development Unit of the Department of Tourism’s Tourism Promotions Board.

The visitors also took the opportunity to do a quick tour of the LPU main campus, the LPU Culinary Institute, and The Bayleaf Intramuros.
