PH Pavilion guests surge to over 10,000 daily at Yeosu Expo
MANILA, philippines - The number of visitors to the Philippine Pavilion at the ongoing Yeosu Expo 2012 in Korea is surging to over 10,000 daily, affirming the country’s brand image of having more fun for tourists. The most popular attraction is Philippine mascot ‘Bok,’ a personified replica of the country’s giant clam with whom the visitors take photos for souvenir. The most typical comments are about the sweetness of the Philippine mango, the amazing sand of Boracay, and the visitors’ desire to taste Filipino food, according to Philippine Organizing Committee Commissioner General Domingo Ramon Enerio III. ‘The most popular Philippine brochure is that on ESL (English as a Second Language) courses, and the most popular activities inside the Philippine Pavilion are touching the sand, picture-taking at the Digital Hub, shopping at the ECHOstore, and watching the butanding animation,’ Enerio added. Earlier, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez said, ‘Ours may not be the biggest pavilion (at the Yeosu Expo), but I assure you, it will be the most fun!’ The surging number of visitors in the country’s pavilion seems to provide that same definition to Philippine tourism. The visitors include high-ranking government officials from other countries, international travel agents, and foreign media.
