BATANGAS CITY, Philippines — An important leg of the Miss Earth Philippines pageant was recently held at the PonteFino Hotel and Residences here.
The Resort Wear Competition saw the 46 candidates sashay in their tropical dresses, regaling the crowd.
Earlier in the day, Batangas City Mayor Vilma Dimacuha formally welcomed the contestants, organizers and guests to her progressive city, giving them a foretaste of its offerings in a cultural event and feast held at the Batangas City Convention Center.
PonteFino’s chief operating officer Fely Ramos expressed her happiness in renewing a tie-up with Carousel Productions, organizer of Miss Earth Philippines.
“I’m glad that PonteFino and Carousel Productions have once again merged their efforts in the worthwhile advocacy of environmental stewardship,” Ramos said.
Hosting the event was Miss Philippines Earth 2011 winner Athena Imperial who individually called the contestants to the PonteFino poolside, spruced up with a stage and long red carpet runway.
Judges for this particular competition, appraising the contestants’ grace, confidence and presence, included international fashion designer Ito Curata, PonteFino chief finance officer Tommy Tantoco, and The STAR Allure’s Woman of Style and Substance Ann Puno.
For the judges, no one shone brighter than Glennifer Perido of Tabuk City who bagged the title Miss Philippines Earth 2012’s Best in Resort Wear.
Special awards went to Quennie Uy of Batangas City (Miss PonteFino Hotel) and Samantha Purvor of San Juan City (Miss PonteFino Residences and Miss Extraderm).
