Byaheng Victory goes Baguio food-hunting
MANILA, Philippines - One great motivation for Filipinos to love eating is the fact that food surrounds them. The streets, nearby offices as well as living settlements like condominiums all are flocked with street vendors, carinderias and diverse restaurants serving their own kinds of cuisines. Of course, there are fiestas in every town and resisting an invitation from dear friends or colleagues is not in most Filipinos’ upbringing.
Byaheng Victory invites you to hop on to another adventure and traverse the many streets and roads of Baguio in search for the most delectable and generous servings of either local or foreign flavors. Join the Byaheng Victory team on July 14-15 and experience not just the cool Baguio climate but its most secret to the most frequented dining places.
Here are a few snippets of what to expect:
• Te QuieroTapas Bar and Restaurant. Impressive modern interiors, Spanish food, fabulous service and a dash of Baguio’s inimitable charm. Located in Microtel Baguio, right beside the Victory Liner Passenger Center, Te Quiero is a Spanish tapas Bar and restaurant. The folks behind it hope to give the city’s food crowd a place to appreciate Spanish cuisine. Tapas, pasta and Wagyu steak form Te Quiero’s menu. Tapas are originally served in small plates filled with various appetizers- nuts, olives, chunks of ham and cheese.
• Cafe by the Ruins. Pertaining to the home of the first civil governor of Baguio, Phelps Whitmarsh, Café by the Ruins was built early 20th century and was destroyed during WWII. The place was called Cafe By the Ruins because it was the remaining structure of the old governor’s house. The pillars and posts inside the cafe are the actual ruins of the said house. The ambiance is very cozy and laid-back, very fitting for a great relaxation or time reminiscing. No one ever leaves the place without attesting to its very rich and flavorful hot tsokolate.
• Arharn Thai Kitchen. Serving authentic Thai food, Arharn Thai Kitchen seats along Leonardwood Road. Very homey, the restaurant is best known for its lemon grass tea — the best tea in Baguio as said by the many. Thai pork barbecue and chicken pandan, all served with sweet bagoong, are a must.
