Victory Liner joins 'Hike for Light'
MANILA, Philippines - For 66 years now, Victory Liner has been in the forefront of making ground transportation stress-free and comfortable. With its unparalleled services and innovative on-board amenities, Victory Liner remains to be the transport of choice for North Luzon journeys.
Victory Liner recently played an instrumental role in bringing light to rural villages within the vicinity of Mt. Pulag, the third highest mountain in the Philippines located in the Cordillera region. Teaming up with Stiftung Solarenergie-Solar Energy Foundation, Victory Liner provided free transportation in a project that distributed solar lanterns to off-grid communities and Mt. Pulag park rangers.
The project, aptly dubbed “Hike for Light,” centered on making a bright difference to indigenous communities living along the borders of some of the country’s most picturesque peaks. While life in the mountains may be simple and beautiful with the stunning vista, fresh air and an up close commune with nature, it can also be rough especially when there are emergencies and communication may suffer from lack of contact with the lowland community. Extending transmission lines or electrical grids is not only dangerous but also comes with a steep price. The more feasible solution? Solar lanterns and mobile phone chargers.
“We would like to thank Victory Liner once again for supporting us in our mission to provide the rural Filipino villages with sustainable access to solar energy. Through your generous sponsorship, our climbers were all transported safely from Manila to Baguio and vice versa. In addition, we were able to successfully distribute 80 solar lanterns to both off-grid communities and our Mt. Pulag park rangers. With your help, we were able to make a difference and do something extraordinary through lighting homes and brightening more lives of our fellow Filipinos in need. As an added bonus, our Solar Ambassadors all had such a wonderful and meaningful climb in Pulag,” said Chinie Canivel, program director and OIC, Stiftung Solarenergie.
