Microtel Libis: Green hotel with comfort
MANILA, Philippines - Microtel, the highly regarded, international hotel chain with the widest network of properties in the Philippines, has scored another first.
In its latest project, Microtel Libis, which is located across Eastwood City in Libis, was the first to qualify for a “green building permit” granted by the Quezon City government.
Quezon City leads the country in “green” infrastructure programs because it is the only local government to adopt and grant real incentives to new and existing buildings.
The ordinance mandates the use of eco-friendly technology and systems in the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings.
Microtel Libis, the 11th Microtel property in the country, is scheduled to open this year. It has complied with and in some cases even exceeded the rigorous standards for a truly “green” building.
The hotel’s sewage treatment plant, coupled with a gray water system, will conserve water. The choice of power-efficient equipment and building wiring was simple but inspired.
Total power consumption for this building will be as much as 30 percent less than comparable structures. Materials for construction and the building site itself have been readied for minimal contribution to environmental pollution by recycling wastes.
Microtel has always been on the cutting edge of having “green” buildings. In Microtel Boracay and Microtel Puerto Princesa, sewage treatment plants, solar water heaters, and a plethora of environmentally sensitive equipment and strategies have been in use for many years.
In this way, Microtel helps save the environment while still providing its guests with the comfort and service they have come to expect from the hotel.
