MANILA, Philippines - It was more like a reunion, a renewal of friendships during the recent inauguration of Punta de Fabian Resort in Baras, Rizal. Its founder, Teresita Fabian Pamintuan, called the event “one of the happiest days of my life as a cancer survivor.” How could she not, when the people who matter to her were there?
There to support their long-time friend were former President Joseph Estrada and his wife former senator Loi Ejercito. Pamintuan acknowledged Dr. Loi for entrusting her with medical missions and charity work.
“The truth is, right after my chemotherapy, I did not mind the pain I was going through. What was important was to carry out the medical and relief operations,” Pamintuan said in her speech. It was through these activities that the future Punta de Fabian became the jump-off site for these missions.
She also recalled how Estrada suddenly asked her to report to Malacañang. “I was very much frightened when I received the call. I wondered what I did wrong. When I arrived at his office, he asked me what I wanted in return for my services. I replied that he already knew what was in my heart,” she recounted.
The trust of the former First Couple set the stage for Punta de Fabian. During those times as a cancer patient, all Pamintuan wanted was to make her life more purposeful. Yes, she wanted to commune with nature in her property. She also wanted to uplift her spirit through charitable work. It was, indeed, a good thing when the Estrada couple summoned her.
Pamintuan also extended her gratitude to Speaker Sonny Belmonte for being an exemplary husband when his wife, The Philippine STAR founder Betty Go-Belmonte, battled cancer.
She also thanked Sen. Loren Legarda for “giving me a plaque as a cancer survivor,” and all her guests for their support. “It was because of you that Punta de Fabian was realized,” she declared.
The special event was also graced by her physician Dr. Antonio Villalon, who she thanked profusely; Rep. Jun Rodriguez, Bulacan Gov. Willy Alvarado and Rep. Marivic Alvarado, Naty Golez, Tanay Mayor Rafael Tanjuatco, and Rizal Gov. Jun Ynares’ wife Andrea.
The inauguration of Punta de Fabian’s new four junior suites, eight executive rooms, and new lobby and the blessing of the new Meliton Geronimo building open a new chapter in the resort’s inspiring story. Looks like Pamintuan will be witnessing even happier days ahead.
