MANILA, Philippines - The College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM) of the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU)-Manila Campus will host the first Manila Tourism Forum on Nov. 29, with the theme “Leading The Academe Toward Tourism Progress.”
The one-day event will be held at the JPL Hall of Freedom of LPU-Manila and is open to all students and faculty of Metro Manila schools offering Tourism courses and to other interested practitioners in the industry.
At the forefront of the stellar line-up of speakers at this one-day event is Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, with his keynote address sharing highlights of the new National Tourism Development Plan.
Other speakers who have confirmed their participation are former Tourism Secretary Narzalina Lim, who will speak on “Expectations of the Tourism Industry From Tourism Graduates”; TV celebrity, columnist and Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, on “Marketing a Lesser-Known Tourist Destination - Ormoc City”; former Tourism Secretary Gemma Cruz Araneta, on “Heritage Tourism”; and Camarines Sur Gov. LRay Villafuerte, on “Running the Country’s Top Tourist Attraction.”
According to the College’s senior officer-in-charge, Bob Zozobrado, this all-important event was designed to update Tourism students and faculty members of Metro Manila universities and colleges on the industry’s latest trends.
An open forum follows each talk, to allow attendees to interact with the speakers and get a better grasp of the topic at hand.
The entrance ticket costs only P600 and the participant gets a useful conference kit, a certificate of attendance, full-service sit-down lunch, heavy morning and afternoon snacks, a raffle stub for valuable prizes, and gift items from some sponsors.
Due to the limited capacity of the venue, tickets are being distributed on a first-order, first-served basis. Reservations may be made through the CITHM office at LPU-Manila at (02) 527-2744; contact secretary Che Punzalan or tourism chairperson Mik Oreta.
