MANILA, Philippines - A medical spa might sound new to the uninitiated, but for the avid clients of the Zen Institute, the place has become synonymous with professional, relaxing and effective medical treatments. The difference, says its founder, Dr. Mary Jane Torres, is that these procedures are done in a spa setting. Yes, medical procedures with all the calming effects of a spa.

This creative spin on skin and body treatments has attracted not just locals but foreign clients as well. For them, flying in and out of the Philippines is worth it for as long as they see results — something which Torres is proud of. After all, playing a key role in medical tourism is something she is passionate about.

It is this very passion that inspires her to make those trips to her medical spa truly worth it. How? She is constantly on the lookout for the latest technology and breakthroughs to better serve her clients. One such product of her eye for advancement is the Endolift.

“The Endolift is a non-surgical facelift technique that gives an instant lifting effect,” the doctor explains. “Unlike other treatments, the Endolift actually still gives you a facial expression.”

The technique, she shares, was developed by surgeon Dr. Alain Tenenbaum. The Endolift is an injectable solution that initiates immediate lifting of the skin.

“The Endolift works best in combination with our signature machine, the Resolift. It is the one that increases cellular growth and skin tightening. If you do the Endolift side by side with the Resolift, you enjoy the instant gratification and the long-term effect without the surgery. Both technologies are from Europe, by the way,” says Torres.

She reveals that the Endolift is exclusively available at the Zen Institute and has become an instant hit among balikbayans who want immediate results and enjoy traveling.

“They tell me they want to look good when they return to the US,” she says. “The Endolift is my best recommendation if you are not yet ready for surgery. I am not against surgery. I am just very conservative when referring patients to surgical procedures. If something can be done non-invasively, then why not?”

She adds that assessing patients if they can still be treated non-surgically is part of their protocol. She says, “We integrate ourselves with the lifestyle of the patient, which is really the goal of the Zen Institute. Even if you want to beautify yourself, we will still insist that you lead a healthy lifestyle.”

“We look at our patients in a holistic manner. The last thing on our minds is to compromise the health of our patients. That is the reason why this is called the Zen Institute Medical Spa. They are still medically supervised with all the spa experience in the facility itself.”

A staunch advocate of healthy living, Torres is calling on her fellow surgeons to promote a cleaner lifestyle. She declares: “The real cause of obesity is a poor lifestyle. I call for their help to campaign for a lifestyle shift. The best way to do this is to promote wellness and introduce a non-invasive approach.”

So whether patients from here and abroad come to the Zen Institute for non-surgical techniques on lipotherapy, facial contouring, hair revitalization, lifts or body sculpting, they know that they can count on the facility to improve their lives inside and out.
