CEBU, Philippines — A show of support for the tsunami victims of Japan transpired at the Radisson Blu during the hotel’s Earth Hour “lights off” event.
A dinner-for-a-cause at the Feria restaurant spilled over to the Lobby lounge to accommodate hundreds of diners who came to participate in the fundraising activity, as P350 of their P500 buffet dinner bill went to the funds.
A public, silent auction at the Lobby generated a huge crowd who bid and outbid one another for various items ranging from cellular phones to Kenneth Cobonpue’s famous “Harry rocking stool.”
A total of P262,230 was raised from the evening’s charity event which would be sent to the Japan Red Cross coursed through the Philippine National Red Cross’ Cebu chapter.
The Radisson Blu employees also gave personal donations amounting to P70,700.
General manager Grant Gaskin extended his appreciation to everyone who supported this worthwhile cause. He said he was privileged to have the Radisson Blu help out in making a difference in the lives of those who were left homeless after the tragedy in Japan.
