MANILA, Philippines - On April 21, Maundy Thursday, the Inscribe Tours’ tour of seven churches starts in Concepcion. Next stop is Santo Nino Church in Bamban and San Nicolas de Tolentino Church in Capas.
Lunch is at the Aquino Center catered by Microtel Luisita.
The tour’s highlight is a visit to the famous pilgrimage site, Monasterio de Tarlac in San Jose, which keeps a fragment from the cross of Jesus at Calvary. The sacred relic is the only one of its kind in Asia.
Camiling’s imposing Church of St. Michael the Archangel, first built by the Dominicans in the 18th century, was recently rebuilt and is now a beautiful sight of intricately designed stained-glass windows and ornate, gold retablos. A meditation garden at the back beckons. Last stop is Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel inside Hacienda Luisita, after which the tour returns to the Aquino Center for merienda cena.
