125 years of Victorinox travel gear
MANILA, Philippines - Victorinox Travel Gear, makers of innovative and durable Swiss document cases and luggage, recently celebrated its 125th anniversary by collaborating with contemporary Filipino artists in an art exhibit and silent auction for the benefit of the street children of Manila.
Officially opened by Swiss Ambassador to Manila Dr. Peter Sutter, the event highlighted the auction of a limited-edition Victorinox leather travel bag, No. 21 out of 125 pieces in the world. The piece is delicately crafted from the finest, full-grain Italian belting leather and European materials, which reflect old-world luxury and dedicated workmanship from which the brand was born. Its functionality and breathtaking beauty make it a unique addition to any luggage set, as each piece is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. A piece of art in itself, this bag lives true to the brand/image of Victorinox and to its worldwide motto: 125 years: Your Companion for Life.
Ambassador Sutter outbid all other attendees and took home Bag No. 21. A portion of the proceeds from the auction went to the special art charity program for street children designed by Victorinox Travel Gear and the Alejandro Melchor Jr. Foundation.
Also part of the event “Masterpiece” were the works of world-renowned Filipino artists including the late Banz Bañez, sculptors Joe Datuin, Fred Baldemor and Wilson William, portrait artist Dante Castillo and painter Mike Melchor.
“These artists and their work personify the spirit, passion and timelessness of Victorinox, characteristics similarly embodied by Victorinox’s 125th anniversary luggage piece, which will also be a part of the special exhibit,” says Darwin Bañez, AVP sales and marketing of the Primer Group of Companies, the exclusive distributor of Victorinox Travel Gear in the Philippines .
