'Love letters' usher Year of the Tiger at Crowne Plaza
MANILA, Philippines - Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila welcomes the Year of the Tiger with a loud roar. Hotel guests are encouraged to relive traditions that will bestow prosperity and good fortune at Xin Tian Di Restaurant.
Auspicious dishes from culinary masterpieces to traditional Chinese goodies will highlight the restaurant’s Chinese New Year menu while dragon and lion dance performances, firecrackers and predictions by a feng shui master are featured to ensure guests get the grandest Chinese holiday experience.
To signify this rare merging of Valentine’s Day and the beginning of a dynamic Year of the Tiger, Xin Tian Di introduces another traditional Chinese New Year delicacy — the “love letters.” Eating these wafer-thin egg roll or triangle is believed to be auspicious due to its history.
Love letters or kuih kapit are available for sale at Xin Tian Di until Feb. 28. Other popular Chinese goodies such as fish tikoy, brown and white tikoy, pineapple tarts, peanut puffs, deep-fried beehive cookies and cashew nut cookies as well as various Singapore kueh such as steamed pumpkin cake, ang ku kueh and peach-shaped dumplings are also available.
For a truly festive gathering of family and friends, Xin Tian Di offers set menus inspired from the Chinese belief that the food that you eat during the start of the year will determine your fate.
Each set includes Yu Sheng salad as a first course, beginning the meal with a toss for a life filled with abundance, prosperity and vigor.
Following this is a selection of delectable main courses such Kongbao Scallops and Prawns in Taro Ring Basket, A1 Sauce Grilled Tiger Prawns, Braised Whole Dried Scallop with Sea Moss, Braised Pork Leg with Sea Moss and Steamed Buns, Eight Treasure Stuffed Chicken or Steamed Grouper with Stir-Fried Minced Bean Curd Skin. Complimentary tikoy will be served to end the meal.
