Cebu Pacific brings travelers to untapped tourist spots

-

MANILA, Philippines - While popular local spots such as Boracay, Bohol and Palawan continue to provide sights to behold, there are many other places in the country offering unique charms to travelers seeking new and exciting destinations.

From natural wonders to cultural festivals, interesting experiences await every wandering Juan in Virac, Cauayan, Calbayog, Catarman and Siargao — the latest destinations made more accessible through Cebu Pacific Air.

From Luzon all the way down to Mindanao, Cebu Pacific’s newest domestic flights bring travelers to beautiful locales at the lowest possible fares.

Premier caving  destinations and more

Calbayog, Samar is a nature lover’s paradise with its many caves, waterfalls and beaches. Danao Cave’s seven chambers are home to various snake and bat species.

Also worth visiting is the Guinogo-an Cave with its naturally cool tunnels. Bordered by rocks and lush vegetation, the beautiful Bangon-Bugtong, Pan-as, Lologayan and Ton-ok Falls cascade into cool pools where visitors can take a refreshing dip.

Travelers can also take their pick of beaches — from the gray-sand beaches of Malajog and Naga to the pearl-white and coconut tree-lined Bagacay beach.

Also a caving destination in Samar is Catarman, known to some as the caving capital of the Philippines. Apart from enjoying the wonderful natural formations, visitors can relax at the soft, white-sand beach facing the San Bernardino Strait or go on a whale-watching tour.

There is also the Embajada Festival (usually held in the first quarter of the year) that reenacts how the Spanish persuaded the natives to embrace Christianity.

Rich history and culture

Those seeking an insightful travel experience will like the historical structures and cultural celebrations of Cauayan, Isabela.

Attractions include the adobe church in the poblacion as well as the Tabacalera and La Insular bodegas in Barangay Turayong, all constructed during the Spanish regime and still stand today.

There is also the summer event called the Gawagaway-yan Festival that pays tribute to Cauayan’s ancestry and bountiful livelihood.

New haunts for surfing,  other water activities

The teardrop-shaped island of Siargao in Surigao del Norte continues to draw crowds from the local and international surfing community. Cloud 9 is the renowned surf break known to be the best in the Philippines.

Apart from surfing, sports and outdoor enthusiasts can go island-hopping, caving, diving, snorkeling, fishing and sailing. For a taste of the local nightlife, they can also party at The Boulevard.

Lastly, in the eastern and southern coasts of Virac, Catanduanes are relatively untouched white beaches with statuesque coconut trees lining the shores. There are also beautiful rivers, springs and waterfalls that tourists will surely enjoy. Furthermore, a jeepney ride from Virac is Barangay Puraran, a surfing haunt known for great waves called the Majestics.
