MANILA, Philippines - Millennium Hotels and Resorts, which manages the Heritage Hotel Manila, has announced the appointment of Lawrence Wee as the hotel’s new resident manager.
Wee’s most recent appointment prior to joining Heritage Hotel Manila was at Madoogali Resort and Spa, Maldives, a Best Western’s premier and luxury property where he served as the interim general manager in charge of the extensive remodeling and refurbishment to meet the hotel’s meticulous product standards, along with the overhaul of its services, inclusive of 27 or more services and amenities above and beyond the minimum standards.
In his new role, Wee will oversee all managerial aspects of the hotel’s operations and will assist the general manager in implementing business strategies and enhancing the profitability of the hotel property.
“I am very excited to be part of the Heritage Hotel Manila at a time when the hotel has completed the refurbishment of all its rooms and suites. With my management approach that puts emphasis on harmonious working relationships, teamwork and problem-solving in order to achieve strategic targets, I look forward to working with the hotel’s highly motivated team to further raise the bar in terms of total customer satisfaction and quick service recovery and enhance the Heritage Hotel’s reputation as one of the preferred business hotels in the Manila Bay area,” Wee said.
A Singaporean national, Wee brings with him over 35 years of extensive operational and hotel management experience through his varied postings throughout Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Singapore.
Wee’s extensive career included opening a new luxury property as director of rooms for a Fairmont Raffles International Hotel in Bangkok where he played a crucial part in yield management, forecasting and budgeting, cost management, financial analysis and planning, and development of the hotel’s strategies and objectives for rooms and F&B outlets with a new concept dining experience to secure high occupancy and guest loyalty at minimal operational cost.
He was previously part of the pre-opening team of the Lien Westlake Resort, Hanoi and Mayang Sari Beach Resort, Bintan Island, and took a pivotal position at the Swiss-Belhotel also as rooms division manager.
Much earlier in his career, Wee served as front office manager for various five-star deluxe properties in Singapore, namely the Marina Meritus Hotel, Imperial Hotel and Meritus Mandarin Hotel.
“We are delighted to welcome Lawrence Wee to the Heritage Hotel Manila, where he will play a vital role in the management team. He will be instrumental in ensuring the enhanced branding of the hotel and continued upgrade of its facilities and services,” said GM Eddie Yeo.
