MANILA, Philippines – Zest Air, the airline with a vision to be Asia’s refreshing airline, launches its Caticlan-Clark flight (and vice versa) on June 18, 2009. The flight runs twice weekly, every Thursday and Saturday (once a day) with a one-way all-in fare of only P788. For the Caticlan-Clark flight, ZEST AIR uses the MA 60 aircraft. According to Ambassador Alfredo M. Yao, ZEST AIR’s president and chief executive officer, “The MA 60 is a 56-seater with a spacious cabin, generous baggage space, large overhead bins as well as front and rear cargo compartments, providing excellent comfort to passengers.”

Says Ambassador Yao: “The aircraft has outstanding operational adaptability in terms of cruise speed, range, airfield adaptability, ‘hot and high’ performance. Its STOL (short takeoff and landing) performance and its capability for all-weather operations make it an ideal regional turboprop aircraft.”

Ambassador Yao adds that the cockpit is equipped with state-of-the art avionics including a four-tube EFIS-85 system, APS-85 autopilot, ADS-85 air data system. AHS-85 heading reference system, VIR-32 VOR/ILS and WXR-350 weather radar.

On the other hand, ZEST AIR also operates the Airbus 320 for its Kalibo, Cebu, Iloilo Davao, Bacolod, Tacloban, Tagbilaran and Puerto Princesa flights.

The A320 has 162-168 seats and fly-by-wire system. The control inputs from the pilot are transmitted to the flying surfaces by electronic signal rather than mechanical means. The aircraft has also advanced electronic flight deck. It has six fully integrated EFIS color displays and innovative side stick controllers rather than conventional control columns.

The A320 has wider single-aisle cabin (3.95 meters), larger overhead bins and leather seats. It has an all-glass cockpit and its electronic centralized aircraft monitoring (ECAM) concept system constantly displays information concerning the aircraft’s engines as well as other key systems such as flight controls, pneumatics and hydraulics.
