Indonesian delights at Heritage Hotel

-

MANILA, Philippines – For the third year in a row, the Indonesian Embassy and the Heritage Hotel Manila in partnership with Cebu Pacific Airlines and Millennium Hotel Sirih Jakarta whisk to town two Indonesian guest chefs, Augustinus Alfredo Sega and Primadi Herwantoro, for the Indonesian Spice and Everything Nice, an Indonesian food promo amid an international buffet spread for lunch and dinner from May 25 to June 7.

Crack up your appetite for exotic flavors at the Hot Sambal Dipping Bar and Traditional Indonesian Crackers station. Check out daging sambal matah (pan-shirred beef toss with Balinese spices), rujak buah (young fruit with sweet peanut dipping), daging besengek (stewed beef in coconut coriander sauce), ayam ganemo (stewed fried chicken in green chili spicy), rajungan bangka (stewed crab in hot tomato ginger sauce), nasi nie goring jawa (chicken skewer with peanut sauce) and bandeng woku belanga (steamed marinated milk fish).

More flavors await at the interactive kitchen theater kue terang bulan (Sumatranese pancake) martabak telur (egg in hand-folded dough), tongseng kambing (sweet dark lamb curry), lumpia semarang (semarang fried vegetable roll), as well as the Noodle Nook with cwimie malang (minced beef noodle), soto mie bogor (noodle soup with spring roll), laksa betawi (shrimp coconut noodle soup).

Vegans and vegetarians will love the Indonesian gastronomic delights bursting with herbs and aromatic spices: rujak buah (young fruit with sweet peanut dipping), selada tondano (young mango and papaya salad), tahu telur (fried egg tofu with sweet soya), orak arik (traditional scrambled vegetable), karedok (mixed raw vegetables with peanut sauce), selada padang (vegetable salad), acar kuning (yellow picked vegetable), asinan betawi (Batavians sweet pickled) and gado-gado (blanched vegetables with peanut sauce).

For sweet and happy endings, try the es cendol (rice spetzel cocktail), kue lapis Surabaya (Javanese chiffon cake), kue lumpur (mud cake), bubur sumsum (rice mousse in glass) es teller (young coconut and avocado cocktail).

Indonesian guest chefs Agustinus and Primadi are both from the Millennium Hotel, Jakarta, a sister property of the Heritage Hotel Manila. Guests for the lunch or dinner buffet also have a chance to win the grand prize: a Jakarta vacation package inclusive of three days and two nights with breakfast for two at the Millennium Hotel and two roundtrip tickets to Jakarta.
