Emirates increases free baggage allowance

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino travelers and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) can now avail themselves of the new baggage allowances provided by Emirates.

The Dubai-based carrier has just announced an increase in its free baggage allowances for all its passengers.

“Emirates has moved to these new free baggage levels to further demonstrate our commitment to putting the passenger first. By offering travelers the flexibility to carry significantly more baggage, we will be allowing them to take home more gifts for family and friends or take advantage of the outstanding shopping in Dubai and across the extensive network of Emirates destinations,” said Nabili Sultan, Emirates divisional senior vice president for revenue optimization.

The new, generous allowance has been implemented across the multi-awarded airline’s extensive network — 30 kg for Economy Class passengers, 40 kg for Business Class, and 50 kg for First Class.

“This new allowance will give Emirates’ Filipino passengers the flexibility to carry extensively more baggage,” said Gigie Baroa, Emirates Philippines country manager.

“Filipino travelers and OFWs who are Gold and Silver members of Skywards, Emirates’ frequent flyer program, are entitled to an additional baggage allowance of 16 kg over their ticketed allowance for Gold members and additional 12 kg for Silver. Filipino codeshare passengers traveling on Emirates’ operated flights are also eligible for the revised free baggage allowances,” Baroa added.

Emirates’ regular rates will be applied to baggage in excess of these new allowances. The new baggage allowances do not apply to those traveling to or from countries that apply a piece concept for check-in luggage.

Emirates has 12 flights per week from Manila to Dubai and back: twice daily every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and one flight every Tuesday and Thursday.
