Spain to join Foreign Chambers SME Trade Fair

Local fair-goers will have the chance to learn more about Spain, its wines and culinary delights and, at the same time, do their early Christmas shopping of selected Spanish gift items at the well-appointed Spanish section of the Foreign Chambers SME Trade Fair on Nov. 19-20, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Megatrade Hall 3 of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

La Camara (Spanish Chamber) president Jose Luis Romero Salas said participating in the trade fair — which includes small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) under the Chambers of Commerce of Australia-New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Europe — will give La Camara members the opportunity to promote their products and services at this time of the year when the spending mood of the buying public is usually on the upswing.

Salas expressed his elation over La Camara being able to join an event hosted by the European Chambers of Commerce of the Philippines, as Spain is a member of the European Union.

To show its support for the Foreign Chambers SME Trade Fair, La Camara will occupy a total of 18 booths and convert these into an attractive Spanish enclave where Instituto Cervantes will showcase the many facets of Spanish culture, while Fuego Hotels will unveil its attractive holiday packages for fun-loving travel bugs.

A wine seminar for connoisseurs, students and faculty members of culinary schools is also lined up during the two-day event, which will also have a cooking demonstration for those interested in learning the culinary secrets of popular Spanish delicacies.

More importantly, grocery items from Spain (chorizos, sardines, candies, olive oil, cheese, wines, cava, etc) will be made available at prices lower than those in supermarkets, and Spanish restaurant Gaudi will sell its mouth-watering specialties, cooked onsite.

Due to limited seating in the venue’s activity area, the cooking demo and wine seminar will be on first-come, first-served basis.
