Providing not just world-class accommodation and service, Island Cove Resort and Leisure Park in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite took a bold step in the protection and care of the environment with the opening of its newest facility the African safari-inspired Island Cove Farms which houses a collection of animals.
Island Cove Farms was established to ensure the balance in the ecosystem by breeding and protecting the animals and educating guests on their importance and role in the food web.
The new facility is designed as a wildlife sanctuary where the animals, though in captivity, move freely and interact with visitors.
Inside the Island Cove Farms is the Crocodile Farm with more than 90 Philippine crocodiles segregated by size in seven pens. The main attraction is the feeding of the crocodiles everyday.
Within the Crocodile Farm is the Monkey Island where more than 30 Maragondon monkeys are at play.
Different birds individually caged and cared for, like ostriches and macaws, are the attractions upon setting foot on the sanctuary. Not too far is a six-month-old tiger named Jose.
Other animals found in Island Cove Farms are deers, sheep, turkeys and goats, among others. To keep visitors informed, the main hall leading to the Crocodile Farm has a photo exhibit area with nuggets of information and trivia for the enjoyment of both parents and their children.
Island Cove Farms is one educational destination this summer for both children and adults. For more details, call (02) 810-3718 in Makati or (046) 434-0210 in Cavite. Special rates and packages are available to schools and tour groups.
