Pick a bone with Herminio Tan

MANILA, Philippines - There is that saying that from dust you came, and to dust you shall return. That may not be the case with Herminio Tan, accessories designer. To Herminio, your body can be turned into a lot of things like necklaces, body armor, and headgear. Because you see, Herminio makes his accessories using... real bones. To explore his, um, art, he will be having his solo exhibit, “Hallowed By Man,” tonight at Today x Future. Herminio has not given any details about the exhibit, but given his past work, we’re expecting skulls and bones from goats, dogs, cats, horses, cows, bulls, and snakes. He says he’s not using human bones, but that may change in the “near future.” In the meantime, he’s started collecting human teeth and hair. Tonight’s exhibit will have music and performances from Jon Romero, Jol3na, Mall Suicide, Jerko, and Other Joseph. The event starts at 8 p.m. at Today x Future, 7-T Gen. Malvar St., Araneta Centre, Cubao, QC, Quezon City.

Discover Venezuelan Cinema at Instituto Cervantes

Venezuela is about to prove they don’t just produce beauty queens. They also produce beautiful films. The Embassy of Venezuela has partnered with the Embassy of Spain and the Spanish Cultural Center to screen cinematic gems from the South American country. Today, head to Instituto Cervantes de Manila to catch Marcel Rasquin’s award-winning Hermano (2 p.m.), about two brothers who use their soccer skills to get out of poverty, and Alejandro García Wiedemann’s Patas arriba (4 p.m.), about an aging man who tries to keep his promise to his wife to travel from Venezuela to Brazil with the help of his six-year-old granddaughter. All screenings at Cine Venezuela are free.
