What to see onstage, Part 2: ‘Full Gallop’

MANILA, Philippines - Full Gallop is interesting because of two things: Diana Vreeland and Cherie Gil. Full Gallop is a one-woman play about Diana Vreeland, the iconic editor of Vogue, whose decadence and one-liners put the classy Anna Wintour to shame. Diana popularized her “Why Don’t You?” column in Harper’s Bazaar, where she made outrageous suggestions like bathing a baby’s blond hair with champagne. She is considered as the original model for The Devil Wears Prada, and at Vogue, her staff did all they could to execute her visions, no matter how outrageous (once, she demanded a white horse for a shoot even though the location didn’t have any horses). And when you have Cherie Girl portraying her, it doesn’t get any better than that. Full Gallop will have its last show this weekend at the RCBC Plaza. Tickets are available at TicketWorld.

What to see onstage, Part 1: the Bruno Mars concert

Just last month, we had the Red Hot Chili Peppers rocking the 7107 International Music Festival. Tonight, we’ll have Bruno Mars, completing the duo that performed at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. This will be Bruno’s second visit to the country, and he’s back with his latest songs like Treasure, When I Was Your Man, Gorilla, and Locked Out of Heaven. The Moonshine Jungle Tour will promote his album “Unorthodox Jukebox,” which critics have called “the stuff of great pop” and “utterly engaging.” His concert performance has equally been well-received, with critics praising his theatrics, showmanship, and singing voice. Imagine what it would be like to be serenaded by the person who sang Just The Way You Are. Bliss. The Moonshine Jungle Tour will be held at the SM Arena.

As younger generations are getting into art, the industry is making its adjustments, and Art in the Park is leading the revolution in making art more friendly to Filipinos. By setting it in the inviting atmosphere of a public park and capping its art prices at P30,000, it allows every arthead to get access to works from his favorite artists.
