MANILA, Philippines -What to do today: Go googoo and gaga at Heima Brixton

Heima, the purveyors of interior chic, is partnering with Googoo & Gaga for Wild House, a mix of ideas from two iconic design houses — one that promotes interiors and the other kidswear. Both are known for their cute and whimsical designs so expect “insanely fun and wild patterns, coupled with astonishing prints and lively hues.” Today, the two brands will converge at Heima Brixton for a show and tell session of their initial creations and a preview of Googoo & Gaga’s Holiday 2013 collection. To complete the Heima-approved event, fun activities await both parents and children. The wild rumpus will start at 10 a.m. and will last until 6 p.m.

Where to get your art fix: Bloom Ext.

Missed out on the art extravaganza that was Bloom Arts Festival? If you did, you missed out on one hell of a show, with over 100 artists and a museum-worthy amount of works from some of the country’s edgiest visionaries. Couple that with music from the coolest musicians (like Tarsius and Wilderness) and you got yourself one hot show. Fortunately, the kind people at Bloom are holding an extended slash extra slash exit show tonight at the LRI Design Plaza in Makati. Catch Mano Gonzales, CJ de Silva, Weirdcountry, Pat Cabral, Tokwa Peñaflorida, Tof Zapanta, Paulo Correa, Daryl Feril, Camy Francisco, Paolo Lim, and Lala Gallardo as they exhibit some of their latest and greatest work. They may only be a fraction of the original lineup, but their fierce eye and spectacular talent can brighten up this Saturday night. Show starts at 8 p.m.

What to do tonight: Zone out at the Exception Music Festival

Rumors are spreading on the interwebs about the lineup of the upcoming 7107 Music Festival, but allow the Exception Music Festival to tide you over and quench your thirst for a legit music fest. The largest EDM extravaganza will happen tonight, with 21 of the world’s biggest names in EDM performing in three stages for a wild Manila crowd. Sadly, Chicane will not be joining as promised because of health concerns. However, the promise of a whole day of electronic dance music from 3 p.m. to sunset and sunrise is an offer no music junkie could refuse. To top it off, Big Fish is behind this massive event, and if their past parties are any indication (God’s Kitchen, Cream, Slinky), this will go down in history as an epic gathering. Exception will happen at the Globe Circuit Events Ground in Circuit Makati.

What to watch:  â€˜Above The Clouds’ behind-the-scenes

The release of the highly-anticipated film Above The Clouds is drawing closer, with director Pepe Diokno announcing that filming has recently wrapped. The film has spent one year in production and three years in development. The story revolves around a young boy (played by the fresh-faced Ruru Madrid) who journeys with his estranged grandfather (the rockin’ Pepe Smith) after losing his parents to a flood. They hike up a mountain and overcome their grief, at a peak above the clouds. The film promises existential themes set against a gorgeous backdrop, and we get to appreciate the setting (which also plays a significant role in the film) in a new behind-the-scenes video. In it, the production team and cast detail the making of Above The Clouds in relation to the beautiful spots in Baguio. The film is set to come out next year, but we can’t wait, so we’re glad to watch the new behind-the-scenes video clip on YouTube. And oh, there are three already.

Who to follow: Carlos Celdran

Carlos Celdran, the tour guide who made Philippine history fun, is back with a project that will make us appreciate days of yesteryear even more. For two special Sundays this December, he’s launching the Intramuros Pasyal Sunday with the Intramuros Administration, where visitors can explore the walled city and check out the street fair on General Luna Street. Pasyal Sunday will have street performers, pop-up playgrounds, food, and kalesa rides, which will entertain those looking for a fun activity with an added dose of heritage. Carlos hopes that through this event, more Manileños can experience firsthand the true soul of a city, and that Manila is creative, beautiful, and inspiring. Go here for an alternative Sundate out with a special someone, family, or friends. The last day of Pasyal Sunday will be tomorrow.
