Supreme picks
MANILA, Philippines - According to the postmodern philosopher Cady Heron, Halloween is that one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girl can say anything about it. The possibilities are endless, all a girl has to do is add ‘sexy’ and subtract clothes. Like the costumes, the possibilities for parading said sexiness are endless. This year, the country is celebrating the year’s most colorful holiday with a bang (and some thuds in the night) in a series of events that will put Tim Burton to shame. Below are Supreme’s recommendations to make sure your costume gets extra mileage:
Get creamed at Cream
The Cream Halloween Ball is the granddaddy of all Halloween parties. BigFish’s Cream is the biggest and longest-running Halloween party, inviting some of the world’s best DJs in its lifespan of 12 years. It has seen some of the wildest costumes and the sickest music, so this will be a guaranteed hit. This year’s theme is the ancient Roman Empire, a perfect fit for the legendary party known for its debauchery. Bring back the days of yore and worship the gods of good vibes. Tonight they will be International Dance Music Award (IDMA)-winning Australian DJ TyDi, DJ Lange, John Paul Lee and Chris Raeuber. Cream will take place tonight at the World Trade Center.
Jump over a hole at the Prive Halloween Ball
If you fancy yourself a geek, head on over to Prive for their Stiletto Halloween Special. Don’t let the name fool you, they’re calling on “evil kings and queens, scheming witches and warlocks, and the rest of frightful freaks†for a night of villainy. Guests are invited to come as their favorite super villains, so that means you can bring to life your secret fantasies of wearing a cape and lots of leather. The Halloween Special will be on Wednesday, but if you feel that villainy is cramping your style, visit on Halloween night for Wonderland, where they’ll take you deeper down the rabbit hole.
Make an offer you can’t refuse at Imperial Ice Bar
For a completely chilling experience, Imperial Ice Bar will blanket you with ice — literally. The first and only ice bar in the country will hold Til Death Do We Party, a Corpse Bride-themed affair. The frosty atmosphere is the perfect backdrop for a party themed after a Tim Burton movie, especially of a mistaken identity that results in a romantic engagement from beyond the grave. Allow the purveyors of fine vodka (only the luxurious Imperia vodka from Russian Standard) to make you forget the horrors of the marriage from hell. Till death do we indeed party, on Halloween night.
Get drenched in blood at Aracama
Depending on your social status, prom night can either be heavenly or a nightmare. If you’re Carrie, it can mean the difference between being a teen queen and standing on stage, covered in pig’s blood. We’re guessing the latter is what Aracama has in mind for Prom Night, their offering for Halloween night. The organizers has warned us that “some will be crowned, others will lose their heads.†No word about pig’s blood flying from the ceiling, but all the same, don’t wear your mom’s designer dress on Halloween.
Make an Urbn Legend come to life
For a more… violent extravaganza, Urbn is throwing Urbn Legend, a night of creepy terror. We all have our urban legends, from the killer in the back seat to the mysterious caller inside the house, but on Halloween night, Urbn is bringing them all to life. The most horrifying? Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th. Will he show up or RSVP? Isn’t that the beauty of urban legends, not knowing if it’s real?
Enter a house of horrors at the Haunted Republiq
If you want to party in style at a haunted house, make sure to check out Republiq on Halloween night, as Ace Ramos, Mars Miranda, Martin Pulgar, Marc Naval and MC Paolo will massacre the dance floor in a night of spooky revelry. Hear the creaks and wails of a haunted mansion amid the best dance music. Republiq is strictly enforcing its no costume, no entry policy to make the theme “make me scream†even more authentic. Better make sure the people you’re dancing with are real!
Confess your sins at Opus for ‘Once Upon a Time’
Everyone has their own dark stories to tell, and Opus is highlighting that with Once Upon a Time, their sacrificial offering for Halloween night. The theme is fairy tale with a touch of cyanide, bedtime stories mixed with a fatal dose of deadly nightshade. Nothing is what it seems. Bring out your inner dark side and unleash it on the world, after all, this is the only time you can do it and have a valid excuse. Costumes are highly encouraged, enforced even.
