From A to Z: The fountain of youth is within reach
Yes, vanity can lead to nation building.
I just found out that one of Sec. Mon Jimenez’s goals in his term as Tourism Secretary is “to place the Philippines on the global map as a destination for medical tourism.” We have competitive local doctors, world class and less costly services compared to our foreign counterparts. I heard the next wave of tourism will bank on this.
That is good news for people like recent birthday girl Dr. Aivee Aguilar-Teo, one of the progenitors of innovation in the fields of beauty and wellness. If in the tech field the news is all about the iPhone 5, and pop culture trends are agog over Gangnam Style, then the beauty industry is going gaga over stem cell treatments. The proposition of “10 years younger” is too tempting for some to resist. It promises quite a lot, but the results have been astounding, as seen in politician A, former president B, tycoon C, and so forth.
I also recently overheard from friend D that Dr. Aivee and her loving beau and partner Dr. Z Teo are already offering it at their Fort clinic. “Have you tried it?” a friend asked casually. She asked me with a judging look, which almost seemed to say, “You mean you haven’t?!” So far I’m pretty happy with how I look for my age, but when I become Senate President, maybe I will. But I’m not closing any doors, just to let you know.
Here’s a fact I just recently found out: yes, you don’t need to go to Germany. Because it’s more fun here in the Philippines! The stem cell treatment is offered in only 40 countries, and one if them is the Philippines! Bet you didn’t know that.
From Aivee to z
At the very intimate birthday dinner of Aivee at The Goose Station, Aivee, who is due to give birth to a baby girl (after two bubbly boys Kenzo and Kenzi), I overheard some ageless women talk about it. In between sips of wine and chomps of Wagyu, I almost didn’t recognize some of them. In a good way, of course. It seems like the fountain of youth is indeed at hand. And more.
I felt someone tapping my back heavily, “Hey, are you having a good time? Eat more, eat more!” This, of course, was the birthday girl, making sure, twice, if not thrice, that her guest was feeling her most sincere royal treatment. Away from her salon-like clinic, the intimate restaurant felt like her abode, and she was actively hopping from one table after another, her baby bump not obvious from the Lanvin top she was wearing that night. Again let me reiterate that when this column comes out, Aivee may also be on her way to the operating room to deliver Baby Girl Aivee. Still, nothing can stop this workaholic woman from taking great care of the people she loves.
Partner in everything, the in-demand doc from Singapore to Manila Dr. Z, was the man of the hour, proud of the fact that, finally, a baby girl was coming soon, so he has two girls in the family now. This of course is aside from all the Most Influential, Most Powerful and Most Beautiful girls (because they all look so young already!) that were there, present for the well-loved couple’s mini celebration. Midway during dinner, a parade of cakes went towards Aivee’s way, and one after another, she blew out her candles with wishes from everyone for continued success in love and in life.
I’m not even going to do a roll call of the select attendees that night. Just look at this page and notice how all of them look 10 years younger, or even more. I sincerely attribute that to a positive mindset, moderate exercise and surrounding yourself with the right people. Enough said.
