MANILA, Philippines - Over 14,000 screaming fans recently converged at the SM Mall of Asia Arena for an exclusive chance to see international songwriter and rap superstar Nicki Minaj up close and live.
Globe Telecom and Research In Motion (RIM), the company behind BlackBerry, joined forces in bringing Minaj to Manila. She’s one of today’s hottest music acts, and the Philippines was the only Southeast Asian stop on her “Pink Friday” Tour.
Onika Tanya Maraj in real life, Nicki Minaj is known for her hit song Super Bass, a certified quadruple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The track has sold more than four million digital copies as of May 2012, becoming one of the best-selling singles in the United States. Minaj has also collaborated with artists like Mariah Carey, Ludacris, Usher, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Rihanna, David Guetta and Flo Rida.
The Pink Friday Tour in Manila transformed the SM MOA Arena into a huge, jampacked party venue, where fans were treated to an all-night dance party. Minaj didn’t disappoint. She sang a complete repertoire from her albums, which included two of her most popular hits, the aforementioned Super Bass and the LSS-inducing Starships.
Her costume pieces were also a sight to behold. They ranged from a black robe, a neon green jacket, violet corset top and bright pink hot pants with printed leggings; to an all-white ensemble consisting of a sleeveless top with metallic straps, a see-through skirt and boots; to a pink gown, black hot pants over animal print leggings and red knee-high boots.

The hottest Pinoy celebrities, society icons and social media personalities were spotted at the big Minaj gig. Supreme editor and creative director Tim Yap was there, as were Richard and Raymond Gutierrez, Lani Mercado, Mikey Bustos, Phoemela Baranda, Bubbles Paraiso, Rovilson Fernandez, Sarah Lahbati, Bangs Garcia, Raya Mananquil, Bianca Valerio, Angelu de Leon, Pia Magalona, Saab Magalona, Camille Co, Laureen Uy, Nicole Anderson, Daiana Menezes, Chino Lui-Pio, Danica Magpantay, Robi Domingo, Petra Mahalimuyak, and Lauren and Megan Young.
