Best of the Week : ScarJo, Shamcey and Shalani

Hoax of the Week: Oprah’s Miss U comment

MANILA, Philippines - Nope, guys, it didn’t come from her. As the country hailed Shamcey’s 3rd runner-up finish, news about Oprah commenting that Miss Philippines should’ve been Miss Universe instead of Miss Angola turned out to be false. Oprah’s website moderator denied she ever made a comment on the issue, but the honorary becky Divine Lee has one: Awaaaard!

Fiancée of the Week:  Shalani Soledad

A worthy man has finally captured the heart that once beat for P-Noy, and it most certainly isn't Willy Revillame. Pasig congressman Roman Romulo has just confirmed his engagement to former presidential karel (ka-relationship) and councilor-TV host Shalani Soledad, who now has more reasons to be energetic on Will Time Big Time. Wedding bells will be ringing early next year for the couple, probably in time for P-Noy’s 52nd birthday. Ouch!

Job Opening of the Week: Director of the Condé Nast International School of Fashion

The real world has the University of Cambridge, while the magical world of Harry Potter has Hogwarts to boot. What about the fashion world? Move over, Anna Wintour, the Conde Nast International School of Fashion is about to open and they’ve been looking for their Dumbledore. Susie Forbes, noted magazine editor, will be the principal once the school opens in September 2012. Fashionistas, level up!

Gladiator of the Week: Andy Whitfield

Like the Thracian warrior Spartacus, he fought his battle against lymphoma valiantly, but he could only make it so far. This week, Andy Whitfield, aged 39, died in Australia after an 18-month battle against cancer. May the brave gladiator that he was rest in peace.

Scandal of the Week: Scarlett Johansson

If it was another Vanessa Hudgens episode, we’d just say “no, thanks,” and move on with our daily lives. But since it’s Scarlett Johansson, we can’t say no to her when her pics just leave us wanting... to know their backstory. ScarJo has already asked the FBI to probe the hacking, which led to her naughty photos getting leaked. The FBI will also be looking into the accounts of previous victims including Jessica Alba and Hudgens. Ethel Booba wants an investigation, too.

Bounce-back of the Week:  The Adamson Falcons

UAAP’s intense rivalry may always belong to Ateneo and La Salle, but somewhere below the leader board, the Adamson Falcons are finally feeling avenged. After 29 games in 15 seasons, the Falcons have finally won over the ADMU Blue Eagles this week, ending their losing streak in a 62-46 showdown.

Hottest Celebrity of the Week: Harper Seven Beckham

Seriously, can anyone really beat Justin Bieber’s star power? Apparently, yes. Baby Harper Seven Beckham, daughter to power couple David and Victoria, was recently named the Hottest Celebrity Under 25 by InStyle magazine. Harper leads the list that includes Bieber (no. 18), Lady Gaga (no.99) and, formerly the world’s most adorable toddler, Suri Cruise (no. 4). You’ve had your turn, dear.

Dinner of the Week:  The JLo-BCo Love Affair

Following their high profile break-up earlier this year it looks like Jennifer Lopez is already screening applicants to replace Marc Anthony. First up is Bradley Cooper, who called it quits with Renée Zellweger after a long-term romance. The two were spotted having dinner this week at a fancy New York restaurant, which probably isn’t in the neighborhood of Jenny from the block.

Backer of the Week:  Franca Sozzani

When John Galliano was under fire for his anti-Semitic comments in February, Vogue Italias Franca Sozzani was among those who cast the stones that ended Galliano’s career in Christian Dior. Seven months later, she’s taking her words back and asks Dior to rehire the convicted anti-Semite. “He didn’t kill anyone!” she says, and the Noranian community replies in unison. Ahummmmmmm!
