MANILA, Philippines - KFC chicken prides itself for its unique recipe with 11 secret herbs and spices, originally developed by Harland David “Colonel” Sanders in 1940 when he was experimenting on how to make the best tasting chicken in Kentucky. This same secret recipe is the basis for KFC’s signature gravy that is not only unique to the Philippines, but has also, in its own right, developed a loyal following, according to Natalie Perez, marketing director of KFC.

And just to give the chicken that world-famous tenderness and flavor, KFC makes use of a pressure frying technique that was also originally developed by Colonel Sanders.
