No tricks, All treats: All hail the monster mom!

MANILA, Philippines - Decades into her showbiz career and Annabelle Rama continues to capture the public’s imagination. On the eve of her birthday celebration and the launch of Spotlight magazine, which highlights the talent momager’s 29 wards, she is in the headlines again, this time in a tussle with a former talent.

If she’s forever controversial, she is, at least, forever interesting. From actress to talent manager, Annabelle Rama has displayed a canny head for business, as well as savvy self-awareness. Who else but Mama Rama can transition from a ’70s sexy star quenching many a red-blooded man’s uhaw to 2008 comeback diva in My Monster Mom?

Through thick and thin, courtship and controversy, she overcomes. This is a woman who has no use for tricks, but is armed with an eternal supply of treats.

Today, she celebrates 15 years of her talent company Royale Artists Management with Spotlight magazine, a special featuring her 29 wards, with her son Raymond Gutierrez taking the reins as creative director.

It’s a varied bunch, from drama prince JC De Vera to musical treasure Pilita Corrales. But whether it be beauty queens or concert queens, glamazons or muscle men, master momager Annabelle is a mother to her 29 kids (including, well, her own kids).

This week, Supreme salutes Mama Rama and the Spotlight magazine with a photo feature of her 29 talents. Photographed by an all-star cast — including Sara Black, Doc Marlon Pecjo, Raymund Isaac, and Jay Tablante — the monster mom’s kids have never looked better.

“Professionalism. Pakikisama. These are the secrets to last in showbiz,” she says. Cheers to that and the next 15 years!
