MANILA, Philippines - Nothing can put a good sportsman down. There’s something about the endorphins that make you a better person, I got that from Legally Blonde, a movie where a vavavoom lass who loves the color pink gets to be the head of a big corporation, or political party. Something like that.
Sounds familiar? Well whadaya know — that’s the story of Cris Albert, Fila boss lady and the brand’s fiercest image endorser. Cris puts the cool in any hot situation, so this summer was no different. “Summertime, and the living is easy,” she looked like she was singing this classic ditty as she cascaded the beachfront walkway towards the Discovery Shores, where she hosted a cocktail party “under the stars” for her VIPs.
Cris flew in her guests from all over to witness the opening of her new Fila boutique right smack center of D’Mall commercial area, where the action for the next day’s hot spurts was to happen. Lounge chairs, henna booths, and DJ Ryu of 94.7 made sure that each moment got hotter. Before flying to Shanghai for the Calvin Klein show and before election fever struck, Borgy Manotoc was here on the island, joining Cris in opening up the Fila Beach House in D’Mall. IHip, young things donned Fila’s diverse footwear Outdoors, Everest, and Tiva, the newest addition to Fila’s roster of brands. In a show directed by theater luminary Ana Abad Santos, Borgy was the opening number while Cris did the finale by strutting her stuff on the ramp and popping open a bottle of bubbly. How very Dita Von Teese, yeah?
Good vibes and high spirits overflowed as they always do when Fila hosts a party. Hooray for the sportsman! And the sportswoman!
