The stars of this year's Travel and Tour Expo
MANILA, Philippines - Thai Airways International (THAI) was among the many exhibitors at the recent Philippine Travel and Tour Expo 2010, organized annually by the Philippine Travel Agency Association (PTAA) headed by Pat Alberto at SMX Convention Hall in Mall of Asia (MOA).
Secretary of Tourism Ace Durano was the guest of honor during the opening ceremony of the three-day event which was well attended by people in the tourism industry; as well as holiday makers planning their vacation. Also present were Undersecretary Edu Jarque, members of the travel industry, and airline executives.
Nivat Chantarachoti, Thai Airways’ general manager for the Philippines, mentioned “we are very pleased to be part of this annual event again this year; and we observed that the number of visitors has increased. This is a positive sign that the industry is slowly picking up after the economic crisis. We are working very closely with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to revive the tourism industry and promote the country under the theme “Amazing Thailand, Amazing Value.” We hope more Filipinos will visit Thailand this coming year.”
“Thai Airways is celebrating its 50th anniversary this coming May 1, 2010 and we will be launching many activities and promotions in the months to come. We will be resuming our service to Johannesburg on May 16, 2010 in time for the FIFA World Cup. Thai flies to more than 70 destinations across 5 continents” Chantarachoti added. “ Pieter Vermeulen, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, was very pleased upon learning about the reintroduction of the flight.”
The three-day event ended with the airline giving away lots of prizes including air tickets to various destinations. The weekend was truly as “smooth as silk.”
