MANILA, Philippines - Rare works by Jose Joya, Arturo Luz, BenCab, Betsy Westendorp, Lao Lianben, Don Salubayba, Elmer Borlongan, Jon Santos, Wire Tuazon plus 90 others will be available at the Asian Cultural Council art auction today, February 6, 4 p.m. at the Finale Art File, Pasong Tamo, Makati.
The online catalogue is at http://www.asianculturalcouncil.org/. There is a wealth of talents in this country that only need a chance to become outstanding artists. The Asian Cultural Council Philippines (ACCP) raises funds to help make this happen by providing grants for them to learn and be exposed to other artists in Asia and in the United States.
Noted ACCP grantees include Lucrecia Kasilag and Jose Maceda, both National Artists for Music; Tikoy Aguiluz, noted filmmaker; Jose Joya, CCP Gawad awardee and National Artist for Visual Arts; and Alice Reyes, founder of Ballet Philippines, to name a few. The ACC fellowship program has supported over 600 Asian and American artist scholars since its inception.
