Is Francis Libiran the new 'designer to the stars?'

MANILA, Philippines - Few can claim to be the “designer to the stars,” but Wednesday night at Members Only, to celebrate his birthday, designer Francis Libiran was surrounded by a full constellation of his muses, all excitedly donning Libiran while going up and down the stairs to the second floor of the exclusive club.

A few months back at the Star Magic Ball, I looked at every style headturner and asked them who they were wearing. Seven out of 10 answered “Francis Libiran.” Now if that’s not a career-turning point, I don’t know what is. Fast forward to that night, Richard Poon crooned in front of a delighted audience of expats and style scenesters and I looked at his muses and friends — this has been the most star-studded for any designer who has done this Prive series so far. A man of few words, Francis could only say two words to all the praises that his ladies and gentlemen showered him with. “Thank you,” he smiled from ear to ear as cameras rolled. The Mega glossy peeps who presented the event kept on snapping the style swans of tinseltown, dressed by a man who is featured in this month’s Metro Annual Body issue.
