MANILA, Philippines - Mongol Pencil has given birth to many great ideas, creations and dreams and just last November 26, Star Paper helped ensure that Mongol Pencil bring forth a million more as it launched the advocacy campaign, “Isang Milyong Mongol Para Sa Isang Milyong Pangarap.”

The campaign aimed to  provide underprivileged public school children with school supplies and writing tools. Through this campaign, Star Paper endeavored to promote literacy and encourage underprivileged students to express themselves through writing and art, to communicate that pencil is an important tool for capturing life and imagining the future and to promote values such as patriotism, love of family, industriousness, self-actualization and determination.

The launch was held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel Manila and proved to be a star-studded affair — the noble undertaking has drawn some of the Philippines most gifted celebrity advocacy ambassadors.  The well-respected TV personality Boy Abunda attended the affair. Boy shared his enthusiasm over Mongol Pencil’s campaign and how together, “We can all strengthen the future of this country.”  National Bookstore’s mother Socorro Ramos eagerly threw her support for Mongol Pencil. “It is a laudable campaign and National Bookstore has always carried Mongol Pencil on its shelves. It is an excellent product and every Filipino child needs to have access to learning tools,” Mrs. Ramos says of the campaign.  Tim Yap, a celebrated eventologist, entrepreneur and columnist expressed that we need to do our part to advance and promote children’s rights.

“Isang Milyong Mongol Para Sa Isang Milyong Pangarap” inspired much support not only from celebrities but also from organizations and institutions that include the National Bookstore Foundation, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, K.I.D.S. Foundation, Ayala Foundation’s Centex and the Department of Education.  Under the stewardship of Star Paper Corporation, Mongol Pencils is sure to continue inspiring and serving the needs of Filipinos.
