Colour deficiency disorder

- Nicola M. Sebastian -

MANILA, Philippines – Despite the rise of the metrosexual, there are still guys out there who find fashion as unfathomable as those impossible crossword puzzles in the Sunday paper.

Truth is, the answer to all your wardrobe riddles can be as simple as black and white.

At least, from 5cm’s point of view. 5cm (Five Centimetre) is a HK-based cult brand that’s crossing over into the Manila fashion scene with a serious bang. The opening of its flagship store at the Atrium of SM Megamall introduces its spring-summer collection, a two-toned take on menswear.

Black strikes hard against white, with softer shades of grey negotiating the peace treaty, on the collection of modern-fit shirts and shorts, smooth-cut jackets, and skinny pants that end just above the ankle. The latest collection’s urban look, with a single shot of punk rock to spice things up, is yet another reason why indie institutions like Franz Ferdinand look to 5cm for threads.

MJ couldn’t have said it better himself. And when it comes to the length of your pants, among other things, 5cm can make all the difference.
