Masks required anew in Bacolod public transport
Bacolod City , Philippines — Wearing of face masks in public transportation is mandatory again in this city amid an increase in COVID cases.
The city logged eight deaths due to COVID from January to April, according to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. The CDRRMO said all the victims were unvaccinated.
Bacolod City remains under Alert Level 1 while Negros Occidental is under Alert Level 2, according to the pandemic task force.
This city recorded 100 COVID cases while Negros Occidental logged 74 as of yesterday.
CDRRMO head Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan said the increase in COVID cases was due to the resumption of face-to-face activities wherein people no longer wear masks.
Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson appealed to the public to continue wearing face masks.
He called on unvaccinated people to limit their travel.
Lacson said the COVID situation in Negros Occidental remains “manageable” and there is no need to set up quarantine facilities again.
