Who would you most like to meet and what would you discuss?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star

No matter who we are or where we stand in society, there’s always that one special person or celebrity we aspire to meet. With social media and all the modern opportunities to travel, our world has become smaller, giving us more chances to someday meet our favorite personality.

So we invited our respondents to go wherever their imagination took them — whether it’s coffee with Oprah, dinner with Jo Malone or shaking hands with the Pope — as long as that person inspires you and the thought of meeting them brings out positive energy as a good starting point.

Nina Herrera Huang

I don’t know if you’d consider this cheating, but it would be incredibly interesting to meet my two daughters, Nikki and

Isabelle, in the future — at ages 48 and 43 respectively. I want to know what they’ll be like at my age and how they will change, and what about them will have stayed the same.

British Ambassador Asif Ahmad

Aung San Suu Kyi (State Counselor of Myanmar). I spent four years working for her release as a UK diplomat. Garnered support in the EU and Asia for her cause. Was in Rangoon during her trial. Supported her family in the UK. But never met her. My plea to her would be to work for the improvement of all including religious minorities and marginalized people.

Bocaue Mayor Joni Villanueva

I would like to meet Michelle Obama, US First Lady, lawyer, and advocate for children’s welfare.

Michelle Obama is one very accomplished woman. She is competent and very secure in herself. But on top of all her accomplishments she has a happy family. She displays an excellent balance of family and career. Michelle is an inspiration to many women, especially those in the world of politics and public service, which demands attention and energy 24/7. I would like to meet her and hug her and tell her that she has proven that a woman can give her whole heart to her family and still also give it to a larger family, the US constituents.

Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco

I would like to meet Senator Hillary Clinton. I would thank her for blazing the trail and inspiring countless women and girls, including myself, to lead, to make a difference in the world, and to persevere.

Dina Bonnevie, actress

I would like to meet President Rody Duterte and tell him that I believe in his sincerity and integrity. I know that the legacy he would like to give to the Filipino people is of a drug-free country with the right people leading the government agencies and eradicating any form of corruption. However, will the youth remember him for the good that he has done, or for his bad habit of cursing on national and international TV? (Most of the time they are unable to bleep his curses, and the youth — including his young daughter — are watching!) Choosing his language carefully would definitely make him more lovable to the Filipino people all over the world.

Nicole Cordoves, Miss Grand International Philippines 2016

I am most intrigued by Princess Diana, so I would have loved to have had afternoon tea with her! She was like a rebellious princess, threatening to spill royal secrets but holding back and patting the napkin to her lips just before she did. I would probably (maybe inappropriately) ask her things like, “What did you mean when you said that the establishment you were married into was afraid of the fact that you’re a strong woman?” And “If you were to change monarchy, what are the changes you would have made?”

Tricia Centenera, host, fashion blogger,

business owner

The Olsen twins (Mary-Kate and Ashley). I applaud them for their individuality. These women aren’t humanitarians or women’s rights activists or anything like that. They’re just two girls who grew up in a world where they were being pulled left and right but have always managed to be true to themselves and their own style and I’m all about that. Be unique; it’s worth so much.

Architect Ramon Antonio

I would like to meet our Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources. I would request the minister to focus on the health and well-being of all our countrymen! To start, we need to impose strict rules on air pollution from smoke-belching vehicles to industrial and hazardous fumes.

Also, to create more green spaces and tree-lined parks all over the country so all Filipinos from all walks of life can experience the finer things that they all deserve!!

Dennis Lustico, fashion designer

If given a chance to meet one remarkable person, I would love it to be the Karl Lagerfeld. I would sincerely ask him, what is it that keeps him going? Are there still challenges in the fashion world that he hasn’t done? Are there still boundaries that he hasn’t crossed? How would he describe his journey from the late ‘50s to now? How does he feel being the last of the design gods in fashion, still doing what he’s been doing for the past 60 years? Has he thought about chronicling all the significant changes in the industry from the time he started?

I have a thousand and one questions for him — about his diet, comfort food, his own happy place, what relaxes him, his work ethic and schedule, inspirations, books, does he meditate, what can he say about YSL, Christian Lacroix, photography, muses, among other things.
