Escape into The Grove

Rockwell Land enters a dynamic, green zone

MANILA, Philippines – One step outside and the fervent heat of summer can conjure visions of exotic islands and pristine waters, of you taking in the gentle waft of trees on the tropical breeze. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could walk freely on green grass anytime you please? To punctuate a wearing day with an invigorating dip? To retreat into a lush enclave that offers brisk respite from the city? One moment you’re confined to a desk, the next you find yourself tucked in a private paradise you call home. To many, this is just a dream sequence until a formal break comes, but for Bridget and Joseph — both residents at The Grove — this vision of euphoria is their daily reality.

“I love that I can walk barefoot on soft grass or in the sand from my unit to the poolside on a whim; I can basically hop from my bed to the pool in no time,” Bridget Co, a young businesswoman, exclaims.

The Grove, a 5.4-hectare verdant sanctuary in the heart of the metro, is Rockwell Land’s first-ever residential venture outside of Makati. Known as the developer of Rockwell Center, the premier property developer takes that distinct Rockwell brand of luxury and lifestyle to Ortigas, in the form of a resort-like private, well-secured community. The Grove is set to be a self-sustaining village with its 6 towers, state-of-the-art amenities, vast open spaces, and quaint retail shops.

“The intent was to give our residents that relaxed, resort-type atmosphere. This development considered the 75:25 ratio of landscape to building very well. We want our dwellers to enjoy more spaces where they can relax, host events, play with their kids, and keep living an active lifestyle,” says Marco Vinluan, The Grove’s property manager.

Indeed, the staggering amount of beautifully landscaped spaces makes The Grove a haven for people who lead an active life (and, of course, also those planning to take that path). Situated along C-5 Road, entering the community is a seamless and sudden shift from concrete jungle to domestic utopia.

“The location is very ideal because it is near the business districts and accessible from every major access points. I love how going home feels like being transported into a new dimension where you can breathe and unwind after a day’s work” Joseph Nieva, one of the newer residents, gladly shares.

According to Joseph, who is a fitness enthusiast himself, The Grove is an athlete’s paradise. With its outdoor tennis court, two basketball courts, an Olypmic-size lap pool (or there’s the 25-meter alternative when you’re not in the mood to go hardcore), and a fully equipped gym that can rival even the most sophisticated commercial gym in the country, he knew from the start that he made the right decision.

For Bridget, aside from lounging by the pool at the Podium Amenity Deck, she loves the idea of having The Great Lawn — a grassy open space roughly around 2000 square meters, surrounded by a long and winding jogging path in between the towers.

“The area is just perfect for hosting several events. I remember we had dragons dancing around for the Chinese New Year, bands playing whenever Rockwell hosts parties for us tenants, and we also enjoy outdoor movie nights every once in a while,” she recalls with much glee.

Bridget, who co-owns two restaurants (Sunrise Buckets and The Gardens) inside The Grove, fondly recalls how the free spaces allowed them to launch on a grand and fiery note.

“We had fire dancers in front of our restaurant on our opening day,” and then adding “we get customers from as far as Alabang, I guess that means coming to The Grove is worth the travel.”

Another remarkable value that The Grove provides — staying true to Rockwell’s core principles — is personalized quality of service. As Vinluan points out, the residents play a vital part in the kind of community they have envisioned for the said estate; all their initiatives must cater to the dwellers’ unique needs and discerning tastes. The Grove has attracted (and continues to attract) start-up families and young professionals in their prime.

“As a single lady who is always busy, I appreciate that the staff treats us like hotel guests. They can even take messages for you, and they do it so well. If I have concerns with the plumbing, electricity, and other technical issues that need fixing, professional help is at the ready, 24/7,” Bridget remarks.

“Being new to living on my own, I am glad that everything I need is practically within my reach. We have nice restaurants, cozy hangout spots, and even our own Rustan’s Supermarket. Single-living is easy to navigate in a place like this; and it doesn’t hurt that it always feels like summer in a swanky resort here,” Joseph expresses, a smile spreading across his face.

Right, who wouldn’t want to live in a gated community where resort-living is not a fantasy but the norm? This season is the time for adventures and making big moves, perhaps it’s also the best time to think where you would be spending your every summer from now on. It could be in a far away destination or could just be right in the comfort of your very own home — if you just get into The Grove.
