STAR writer and Palanca awardee Luis Katigbak releases new story collection

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Luis Joaquin Katigbak releases Dear Distance: Stories, a collection of short stories with a mix of speculative fiction, science fiction and fantasy. In these pages, one can find gripping stories like “Subterrania,” a story of a boy who frequently visits his friend Kaye who turns out to be a supernatural being; while “Afterlife with Astrid” narrates a conversation between two friends from different worlds — the living and the dead.

Luis Joaquin Katigbak is the author of The King of Nothing To Do (Milflores Publishing, 2006), a collection of essays, and Happy Endings (University of the Philippines Press, 2000), a collection of short stories that has been reprinted multiple times. Both were nominated for National Book Awards by the Manila Critics Circle. He has won numerous honors for his writing, including four Palanca Awards, a Philippine Graphic prize, and a Young Artists’ Grant from the NCCA.

Luis has worked in TV and advertising, and taught creative writing at the University of the Philippines. He also writes a weekly column for THE STAR, called “Senses Working Overtime.”

Dear Distance is available for P225 in National Book Store and Powerbooks and online at www.anvilpublishing.com
